Supply ship assisted in medevac off Charleston
The 'Go Crusader' relayed a message to Coast Guard Sector Charleston watchstanders on April 20, 2022, at 8:21 a.m., via VHF-FM channel 16, stating a crew member of the f/v 'Crystal C' was unresponsive. The communications radio on board the fishing vessel, 50 miles east of Charleston, South Carolina, was unable to transmit to Sector Charleston watchstanders. A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew hoisted the patient John Gary Modin from the bow of the vessel and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services at the Air Facility Charleston. EMS transported him to the Medical University of South Carolina for further medical care.
