Casualty to leave port

The 'Heng Tong 77' was due to leave the port of Karachi for Dubai on Nov 3. The Karachi Port Trust (KPT), after payment of the port charges and other expenses to the authorities, has issued a port clearance certificate to the shipping agent. A tug will pull the cargo ship first to Dubai and then to Qatar.

The 'Heng Tong 77' is to be towed from Karachi to Bandar Bushire on Nov 1 by the tug 'Al Wahsh' after the owner of the barge has finally paid Rs 15.55 million to the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Rs 8 million to the Pakistan Navy (PN) for assisting in the salvage and berth charges etc. The 'Al Wahsh' made the necessary arrangements to pull the barge to Dubai. The Mercantile Marine Department, Government of Pakistan has been requested to appoint a surveyor to inspect the towing arrangement before the ships may leave port.
