Bitumen tanker towed out of Drammen after more than two years

Tue Jan 01 17:57:05 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Ioli" which had been docked in Drammen since Oct 1, 2016, due to problems was towed out of the port by the Danish tug "Hunter" (IMO: 9468372) to Fredrikshavn where it arrived on Dec 29 at 10.15 p.m. for repairs.

Abandonded tanker to be sold

Tue Mar 06 12:14:11 CET 2018 Timsen

On Oct 1, 2016, the "Ioli" arrived at Drammen with 14 Filipinos on board. The crew refused to unload the cargo because they had not been paid a salary by the shipping company for several months. The crew eventually got home, but 17 months later, the tanker is still berthed in Drammen. The Greek owners have never shown any interest in retrieving the ship, and now the National Bank of Greece will collect what they can of value some time after Easter in a forced sale. Last winter it was threatened to sink due to frost damage. Now it is being monitored every day. Norwegian report with photo: https://drm24.no/nyheter/skipet-ingen-ser-ut-til-a-bry-seg-om-183550

Abandoned tanker took in water in Drammen

Thu Feb 09 19:24:53 CET 2017 Timsen

The "Ioli" which was berthed in Drammen, took in water in the morning of Feb 9, 2017. There was a leak in the engine room. The fire department attended the ship with pumps. A company was to repair the leak once the tanker has been drained from several tons of water. The fire rescue had already carriet out bilge work on Feb 7 after a leak had been discovered. The ship has been docked at the port of Drammen since October 2016. The tanker was loaded with bitumen. The Philippine crew was repatriated following a dispute over missing wages. Since then the ship has been lying abandoned in the port with no access to electricity, and when the cold struck this week it began taking on water. The Deputy Port Director, Ivar Vannebo, has been in contact with the putative owners via email who stated they were only a management company. The real owners were unknown. The ship had been shuttling between Gothenburg and Drammen in summer. Norwegian report with photos: https://www.dt.no/nyhet/drammen/buskerud/oljetanker-tok-inn-vann/s/5-57-554470
