Transport ship sank off Samtip
On Aug 26, 2019, the 'Ayu 78' sank with two large Komatsu excavators and several Cat tipper trucks on board. The ship was in the waters of Samtip when it began to take in water. As the ship sank in a shallow area, the machines were still partially visible above the surface while the deck was submerged. The crew as well as some equipment and assets from the ship were saved due to the favourable weather conditions in the area.
