Car carrier delivered at yard in Gdansk

Sat Aug 18 12:50:17 CEST 2018 Timsen

In the morning of Aug 18, the Danish offshore vessel "Blue Antares" was heading back to Fåborg after having delivered the "Makassar Highway" in Gdańsk. After handing over the car carrier safely at the Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa yard on Aug 16 at 11.15 a.m., the tug was expected back in its homeport in the afternoon. She had also pulled the "Makassar Highway" from the accident site at Västervik to Oskarshamn. The Swedish authorities have just completed the cleanup work for the oil that flowed into the sea and polluted the coast after the grounding on July 23.

Coastguard wrapped up environmental response

Thu Aug 16 10:33:13 CEST 2018 Timsen

The Swedish Coast Guard has finished the oil recovery from the "Makassar Highway" in the night of Aug 15 in Tenösund off Växholm on Wednesday night. The assessment was that all oil that was recoverable has been pumped up. It was difficult to estimate exactly how much oil leakd out because it has been mixed with water. The Coastguard has thus completed the environmental response. Swedish report with photos: https://www.kustbevakningen.se/hallbar-havsmiljo/nyhetsarkiv/kustbevakningen-dyker-i-tenosund-vid-vaxholm/
