Tanker abandoned in Latakia
The "Sunny Maria" is stranded in since Feb 13, 2016, after having arrived from Novorossiysk. The owner abandoned the vessel, and wages weren’t paid for months. Half of the 12 crew members, all but one Syrians, managed to leave the vessel, which was being anchored on Latakia anchorage. The vessel was said to be owned by Syrian military through Arab Company, registered in Romania, but who was the real owner if there was an owner by now, was unknown, as well as the fate of the vessel. The last AIS signals dated from June.
