Ferry locked down after stabbing incident

Thu Sep 10 12:55:48 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Kennewick' has been placed into lockdown after a stabbing. Two suspects have been taken into custody, after one person was stabbed aboard the Port Townsend ferry on Sep 9, 2020, around 8 p.m. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The ferry was secured in Port Townsend. Others not involved in the incident aboard the vessel have disembarked the vesel as troopers continued investigating the incident. The final sailing for the Port Townsend/Coupeville ferry was also canceled. Alternate routes were the Mukilteo/Clinton and Edmonds/Kingston ferries.

Ferry suffered water jacket leak

Mon Sep 24 12:42:33 CEST 2018 Timsen

The Port Townsend-Coupeville route was without service after the "Kennewick" faced engine problems in the morning of Sep 23, 2018. The ferry’s engine had a water jacket leak and mechanics headed to Port Townsend to fix the problem. It was unsure how long repairs would take.

Man jumped over board from ferry

Fri Aug 19 20:09:28 CEST 2016 Timsen

An 81-year-old Poulsbo man was missing and presumed dead after apparently jumping off the "Kennewick" from Whidbey Island to Port Townsend in the night of Aug 18, 2016. After the 9:10 p.m. sailing of the "Kennewick" arrived in Port Townsend and was unloaded, a silver 1995 Ford Aerostar van remained on deck. Inside was the man's wallet and a suicide note. Security tapes show a person matching that description going overboard at 9:22 p.m., eight minutes after the ferry departed the Coupeville dock. The Coast Guard and East Jefferson County Fire conducted a water search, but the man wasn't found.
