After the police received a notification about a ship fire in the Brufjord on May 15, 2013, at 12.17 a.m., the Flora fire brigade came out on board the Norwegian catamaran ferry "Øyservice" (IMO: 9393591) and found the casualty in Stavfjord. It turned out to be the Norwegian 50-foot f/v"Vestervåg SF-45-F" with homeport Florø with a crew of three on board which was on fire. The "Bergen Star" which was heading southward to Mongstad when receiving notification of the fire between Askrova and Svanøy also turned around and headed to the casualty. At 1 p.m. the fire department went on board with smoke divers. There were no visible flames, but a lot of smoke. The fire must have started in the engine. At 1.30 p.m. the fire department reported that they controlled the fire in the engine room. The vessel was then towed to Florø by the "Øyservice". The tanker "Bergen Star" which was heading south when they received notification of the fire between Askrova and Svanøy turned around and returned to the casualty. The tanker was headed to Mongstad. The Transportation Safety Board was waiting for some clear weather to move forward with its investigation into a man’s death on the "Western Tugger" on May 10. Rough seas and high waves were delaying the tug boat’s return to Mount Carmel.  The tug was still at the site of the capsized barge it was pulling when the tow line snapped and struck the crewmember, killing him. The barge is about 70 kilometres southeast of Burgeo off the province’s south coast. Investigators were waiting for the crew to return so they can interview witnesses of the incident.
