Repairs of grounding damage completed

The "Alrek", which had run aground on the Noordzee Canal in Ijmuiden and got stuck with the stern on the embankment at the Park Way in Velsen South on March 24, left the Bremerhaven Dockyard GmbH on May 25 at 6 a.m. after repairs and headed to Rotterdam, arriving there on May 26 at 6 a.m. The ship meanwhile continued to Kingston upon Hull, ETA May 27.

Alrek towed to Bremerhaven for repairs

On Mar 6 the "Alrek" was towed towards the fishing port of Bremerhaven under tow of the tug "MTS Vanquish". In the outer Weser, the URAG-tug "Wilhelmshaven" had joined to assist as steering tug, and off Bremerhaven the tgúg "Blexen" took over the towing wire. At 3.15. p.m. the ship was berthed at the Bremerhavener Dockbetriebe GmbH for repairs. Grounding in Velsen

In the evening of Feb 24, 2017, the "Alrek" ran aground on the Noordzee Canal in Ijmuiden and got stuck with the stern on the embankment at the Park Way in Velsen South. The ship was coming from Velsen-North bound to Södertalje when it veered off course during a turning manoever. The tugs "Bernardus" and "Telstar" were soon on scene to assist, but first the ship had to be surveyed by the water police. Other ships could pass with slow speed. On Feb 25 at 3 a.m. the ship was refloated and berthed at the Grote Houtkade in Velsen.
