Pirate attack off Bonny

The 'Contship New', enroute from Owendo to Lome, came under pirate attack 220 miles southwest of Bonny in position 001 17 24N, long 004 22 48E, on April 23, 2021, at 11.15 a.m. The crew has retreated into the citadel. The latest available AIS dated April 22, 7 a.m.

Disabled ship towed to Piraeus

After it turned out that permanent repairs of the 'Contship Fun' after an initial damage survey which was carried out by attending class surveyors could not be completed, the vessel was granted towage approval by the Harbour Master. The tug 'Christos XXXVI' (MMSI: 241483000)took the ship in tow on March 5. The vessels were expected to arrive at Piraeus on March 7
