Fri Sep 15 11:37:57 CEST 2017 Timsen

Efforts to locate and rescue the three missing crew members of the "JBB De Rong 19" in Singapore waters were continuing in the night of Sep 14. The dredger was bottom up about 1,7 miles south-west of Sisters' Islands, in the Singapore Strait. Two other members of the crew of 12 were taken to hospital. The MPA widened the search area and increased the number of vessels in the operation from 22 on Sep 13 to 29 on Sep 14. The surface search area now covers 250 sq km, up from 130 sq km. The aerial search area, meanwhile, more than tripled, from 770 sq km to 2,701 sq km. Five aircraft have also been involved in the aerial search. The Indonesian Rescue Coordination Centre was working with the Singapore authorities to assist operations with an additional 10 vessels in Indonesian territorial waters. The 12 crew members on board the capsized dredger comprised 11 Chinese nationals and a Malaysian. One of the casualties was Chinese and the other Malaysian. The 26 Indonesian crew members on board the "Kartika Segara" were unscathed. The ship's starboard side bow was visibly damaged.
