Tug salvage prolonged due to monsoon season

The 'Alliance' was still resting on the same spot where it initially grounded. The owner company had initially made arrangements to shift it, thinking of towing the vessel to Gujarat or Mangaluru before scrapping it. Now the Gujarat-based Alliance tug company was focussing more on saving the vessel. The bunker oil, which had been the main obstacle for shifting the vessel, has already been removed by the Mohammed Qalandar team from Mangaluru. The Bilal Moideen team of Mangaluru Badriya company has been visiting Kadipatna every day to remove sand and seawater accumulated inside the vessel. Once the clearance certificate has been procured, the team will take the vessel to Mangaluru or Gujarat. Because of the force of the surge, the vessel has moved closer to the shore. The tug clearance has been delayed as the mercantile marine department's permission has reportedly not yet come. The mercantile marine department has informed that they will be able to issue a no-objection letter only after the end of the monsoon season.

Tug salvaged after five days work

The 'Alliance' which had capsized off Mangaluru on May 15 was salvaged on May 25 from the Padubidri beach in the Udupi district, after a five-day effort by a technical team. The two companies Yojaka and Badriya carried out the operation. The efforts to salvage the tug, which began on May 19, was hampered by technical issues.The body of one of the three missing crew members was found trapped inside the wreck. Of the eight crew members who were on board the vessel, two people died, while three swam to safety. Three others were missing in the incident. Salvage of tug commenced

The salvage of the 'Alliance' that capsized off the coast of Mangaluru on May 15 and drifted aground near Padubidri beach in Udupi district, began on May 18. The operation is being monitored by the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), which had contracted the vessel owned by Underwater Services Company Ltd. The company has contracted the Yojak company with the recovery. The tug will first be secured with iron ropes so that it may not shift from the current position. Then it will be either lifted or an attempt undertaken to turn it into an upright position. Of the eight crew members, two died, while three swam ashore. The remaining three, he chief officer Ashfaq Ali Khalpe, seaman driver S K Mainuddin Haqa and diver Pawan Chand Katoch, were still missing. The three missing people are t
