Search for missing crew member aborted

Experts of the police did not see any more sense in continuing the search for the missing 58 year old Cap Verdian crew member of the "Altomidra" in Gaarkeuken on Apr 28. Anyway a sharp lookout should be continued at the accident side at the quay near the Gaarkeuken Bridge.

Search for missing crew member in Grijpskerk

In the morning of Apr 25, 2016, divers were called to search for a crew member who fell from the "Altomira" in Grijpskerk (Groningen) at the Gaarkeuken Bridge at 5.45 a.m. while unmooring the barge. The police and fire brigade as well as a helicopter were involved in the search of the man in the cold water of the Van Starkenborgh Canal. Ship traffic was stopped for this purpose at the Gaarkeuken lock. At 10 a.m. the "Altomira" was shifted to get access to the bottom underneath the barge. The fire brigade continued to look on the water with two boats with sonar equipment.
