Detained tanker released

Sun Apr 11 16:52:55 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Morioka' has been released and sailed from the port of Karachi on April 8. The owner of the vessel has cleared and paid penalties to the Karchi Port Trust Customs Department and other expenses. Earlier, the cargoes were offloaded at the port. The ship was headed to Sohar with an ETA as of April 11.

Detention in Karachi

Mon Mar 01 10:15:58 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'Morioka' has been detained at Karachi, for falsification of voyage records, on Feb 24, 2021. According to the vessel's shipping agents, the East Wind Shipping Company, cargo was loaded from Sohar and Khor Al Zubair. The vessel, admittedly, never went to Oman or Iraq, as recorded in the Last Port of Call lists, but loaded its cargo from Iran. The ship has violated the port of origin and related laws. The vessel has not been allowed to discharge or leave the dock without prior permission till the process of recording of statements of all crew members has been completed. On Feb 28 the tanker was rummaged at Karachi port and the official in charge of the conveyance admitted the goods were actually loaded from Bandar Imam Khomeni (BIK), Iran and of Iranian origin. Iran is under various sanctions of the international community and there is no banking channel through which the money could have been transferred.
