Four stowaways found in Belfast
Four stowaways were found aboard the 'Elbcarrier' at the port of Belfast on June 4, 2021. After being alerted by the crew, the Border Force proceeded to the port at 08.30 a.m. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene at 10 a.m. The four men, who told officials they were from Libya, had boarded the ship at Antwerp. One of them was found to have suffered minor injuries, and all four were taken to the hospital to be assessed. They were also tested for Covid-19. The stowaways will be dealt with according to immigration rules. The ship left the port again on June 5 at 4.50 p.m., headed back to Antwerp, ETA June 7.
Elbcarrier left port again
The 'Elbcarrier' left the Dublin Ferryport Terminal where it had berthed on Dec 9 at 2.20 p.m. after removal of the remaining cargo and cargo operations on Dec 13 at 2.10 a.m. and headed to Rotterdam. On Dec 15 at 6.15 a.m. she berthed at the RST Shortsea Container Terminal South.
Elbcarrier lost containers in Irish Sea
The 'Elbcarrier' lost a number of containers overboard in the Irish sea on Dec 8, 2019, at 11.30 p.m., about 25 miles West of St. Annes Head, in position 51 41.4N, 005 50 54.0W, while en route from Rotterdam to Dublin. The ship was caught in rough weather. 12 drifting containers were spotted at 11.30 p.m. in pos. 51 40 N 005 50 W. The exact number of lost containers was unknown. The ship reached the Dublin Ferryport Terminal on Dec 9 at 2.20 p.m. There were no hazardous goods inside the lost cargo. The ARCC was informed and a fixed wing aircraft was scheduled to overfly the area on Dec 9. Any vessels transiting the area were informed of the lost containers.
