Freighter sinks in East China Sea, crew rescued
Chinese Cargo vessel JIN LONG DA 98 issued distress signal on Oct 8 in East China Sea southeast of Shanghai, reporting heavy list portside, danger of sinking, and requesting assistance. Passing nearby tanker DONGCHENGYOU11 came to rescue. Weather was stormy, with heavy swell, fishing vessel, which also happened to be nearby, took vital part in 13 crew rescue, closing distressed freighter and taking crew on board, and after that, transferring them to a tanker.
