Hours after it was seized by naval troops, the Swedish ship Marianne which had taken part in the latest “freedom flotilla” to Gaza, arrived at the Ashdod Port on Monday night. 16 foreign nationals who were on the ship were transferred to the Population and Immigration Authority. The foreign nationals are expected to go through a hearing and will then be deported from Israel in accordance with the law.

Activist ship intercepted

Mon Jun 29 12:28:21 CEST 2015 Timsen

Israeli Navy commandos boarded the "Marianne av Gothenburg" that was headed for the Gaza Strip in the night of June 28, 2015, and took control of the vessel. The ship was taken to Ashdod port, after which the activists on board will likely be deported. The Israeli Navy advised the vessel several times to change course. Following their refusal, forces visited and searched the vessel in international waters in order to prevent the intended breach of the maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. The forces have reported that use of force was unnecessary, and that the process was uneventful. The vessel was expected to arrive in Ashdod within 12-24 hours Report with photos: http://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-navy-boards-ship-headed-for-gaza-no-injuries-reported/
