Sailing from Dubai through Suez Canal cancelled due to safety situation

Thu Apr 18 10:24:14 CEST 2024 Timsen

Due to the current situation in the Red Sea, TUI Cruises has been forced to cancel the trip of the 'Mein Schiff 5' from Dubai through the Suez Canal. Instead, the ship will take a course around Africa, which means that the port of Heraklion will not be reached until June 21, 2024. Due to this background, the trips on May 23, 2024, June 7, 2024 and June 14, 2024 with the 'Mein Schiff 5' must also be canceled. Bookings will be canceled free of charge in the next few days and guests receive a travel credit with a 10% discount on the cruise share for a new booking. This credit does not have a redemption deadline and can be used flexibly. The following trips with Mein Schiff 5 are affected: 15 nights – Dubai to Heraklion / May 23 – June 7, 2024 7 nights – Eastern Mediterranean with Piraeus / June 7. – June 14, 2024 14 nights – Eastern Mediterranean with Cyprus / June 7 – June 21, 2024 7 nights – Eastern Mediterranean with Cyprus / June 14 – June 21, 2024 14 nights – Eastern Mediterranean with Cyprus & Crete / June 14 – June 28, 2024

Port calls in Israel skipped after Hamas attack

Tue Oct 10 09:52:31 CEST 2023 Timsen

The 'Meni Schiff 5', which is currently on a week-long cruise in the Eastern Mediterranean, where calls were also planned in the two Israeli ports Haifa and Ashdod, had to cancel these due to the security situation there. Serious attacks by Hamas from the Gaza Strip against Israel are making route changes for cruise ships unavoidable in order not to endanger the safety of passengers and crew members. The calls in Haifa on Oct 11, 2023 and in Ashdod on Oct 12 have thus been canceled. At the weekend. The port calls will be replaced by Marmaris and Santorini. My ship had to request multiple cruise ports in order to continue to visit five destinations in one week with the 'Mein Schiff 5'. Berths in Egypt, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus are currently in high demand as many cruise lines do not call at Israel for security reasons. The shipping companies are trying to find alternative ports. If this is not possible, port calls sometimes have to be replaced by days at sea. On Oct 10 the 'Mein Schiff 5' berthed in Limassol, the other destinations of the current cruise, which ends in Heraklion on Crete on Oct 15, are Marmaris, Rhodes and Santorini. No route changes have yet been announced for the second cruise on the Eastern Mediterranean route with Israel, departing on Oct 22.

Medevac in Valletta

Mon Sep 18 11:21:48 CEST 2023 Timsen

The 'Mein Schiff 5' arrived in Valletta on Sep 16, at 10.10 p.m. UTC to disembark a passenger due to a medical emergency earlier than scheduled. It had set off to the voyage on Sep 10 in Valletta with calls at Soudam Bodrum, Mykonos and Piraeus and was only supposed to arrive in the port of Valletta on Sep 17 at 4 a.m. Due to the medical emergency on board, the ship's speed was significantly increased. However, it was not possible for the passengers or crew to go ashore after reaching Valletta until the authorities had released the ship, which only took place at around 5:15 a.m. The only exception to this were passengers who had a transfer to the airport at 4:30 a.m. After a partial change of passengers, the vessel left the port again in the evening en route to Brindisi.
