Mon Nov 13 17:39:15 CET 2017 Timsen

On Nov 13, 2017, at 5.40 a.m. the "Newton", loaded with a cargo of steel plates from Frederiksvaerk, ran aground on the Ems off the Leda estuary. The ship had got disabled following a failure of the main engine. After the engine was running again, the ship backed off with own power and proceeded to Papenburg where it berthed at 7 a.m. and a sailing ban was imposed for inspection. She left port again on Nov 17 around noon and headed to Frederiksvaerk, arriving there on Nov 20 at 3 a.m.

Sat Jan 14 16:38:34 CET 2017 Timsen

Enroute from Brake to Roenne the "Newton" suffered engine damage on the Elbe off Brunsbüttel and had to call a tug for assistance to avoid going adrift in the evening of Jan 13, 2017. After some time the crew managed to restart the engine. In the night hours two tugs towed the vessel into the canal port of Brunsbüttel where she berthed at the pilings. It left the port of Brunsbüttel on Jan 15 at 3 a.m. and reached the port of Rönne on Jan 16 at 8.30 a.m. Photo: http://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23&p=133254#p133241

Grounding off Wolgast

Thu Sep 03 10:57:39 CEST 2015 Timsen

In the afternoon of Sep 2, 2015, the cargo m/v "Rix Alliance" got stuck while approaching the port of Wolgast. The accident happened when the ship tried to pass the "Samia B" which had run aground on the Knaak Back Trench while entering the Peene river, having sailed from Varberg on Sep 1. The "Rix Alliance" was coming from Wolgast, where she had sailed at 1 p.m., and heading towards Rostock. While the "Rix Alliance" refloated soon after, the "Samia B" could only be refloated with assistance of the lifeboat "Eugen" in the night hours and docked in Wolgast on Sep 3 at 6.15. The "Rix Alliance" berthed in the port of Peenemünde at 4 p.m. for surveys. Both accidents were thought to have been caused by navigational errors in the narrow fairway NW of the island Usedom.
