Olivia Ribau towed to Mondego
The "Olivia Ribau" was finally refloated on Nov 19 and towed overnight to the shipyard of Mondego, where it will be evaluated if the ship is dismantled or repaired. During the recent days, sand and other debris accumulated inside the vessel was removed. Trawler refloated and cleaned from sand
The "Olivia Ribau" remains in the river Mondego at the quayside south of the port of Figueira da Foz, after having finally been refloated on Nov 7. The hull was being cleaned of several cubic meters of sand in order to assess the damage. The wreck was next to be towed to the Mondego shipyard in the coming days where it was to be decided whether it would be repaired or scrapped. The wreckage of the wheelhouse has been removed from the river on Nov 10. Wreck turned upright
The "Olivia Ribau" has been turned upright near Figueira da Foz next to the south jetty in the morning of Nov 6 in two phases. Next it was planned to pump out the water and tow the wreck to the shipyard of Mondego. The company will will also remove remaining nets and also the wheelhouse of the vessel which was lying outside the fairway which will be taken to the beach of Cabedelinho next week.
