Engine damage in Kiel Canal

Tue Oct 08 13:42:10 CEST 2013 Timsen

On Oct 4, 2013, the "Pedro Doncker" suffered engine blackout near Tackesdorf after having entered the Kiel Canal in Kiel westbound at 3 p.m. at canal kilometer 43,5. The ship was taken in tow by the tugs "Bugsier 18" and "Bugsier 14" which were waiting for another ship at Fischerhütte, and was moored in Brunsbüttel at 11 p.m. where the ship actually was remaining.

Complicated medevac in Cuxhaven

Thu Sep 29 09:40:01 CEST 2011 Timsen

On Sep 29, 2011, firefighters had to medevac a man from the "Pedro Doncker" with transportation aids like a aerial ladder and a crane. The "Pedro Doncker" was moored at the Lübbert and had a sick sailor on board which had to be transferred into the waiting ambulance. Because of the differing levels between the upper deck of the ship and the pier it was impossible get the young man from board in a conventional way. Instead, a turntable ladder had be brought into position and a rescue basket strapped to the stretcher. The patient was then lifted onto the quay, where paramedics were already waiting.
