Medevac off Toulon

On Jan 25, 2015, around 12:30, the CROSS Med was alerted by the "Saga Pioneer" after a crew member was injured in a fall The ship was about 240 km from Toulon between Sardinia and the Balearics then. After a consultation with the maritime medical coordination center in Toulon a medical evacuation was decided. The CROSS MED dispatched a Super Puma helicopter of the Air Force Base at Solenzara. In the afternoon the patient was hoisted on a stretcher and brought to Ajaccio Hopîtal.

Crewman hurt on icy deck

An icy staircase caused an accident aboard the "Saga Pioneer" on Jan 16, 2012 in the Elbe Port, Brunsbuettel. At 06.45 clock crew member on the way from the forecastle to the main deck slipped and fell down the stairs. The man hurt his back and was taken to the West Coast Hospital in Heide. The injured was expected to be released on Jan 16. The freighter was unlaoding copper concentrate and then returned to Salvador/Brazil. After completion of formalities, the sailor will take the trip home by plane.
