Container ship arrested in Singapore

On July 21, 2015, the "SCI Chennai" was arrested at 6:15 p.m. in Singapore. The move followed an action by local law firm Oon & Bazul LLP (Oon & Bazul). The exact reasons for the arrest were currently unknown, but such action is typical in instances of payment dispute. The vessel was fully laden and at anchor. The "SCI Chennai"'s current market value was at $21.25 million. The vessel was the 12th to be arrested in Singapore in 2015, and the second by Oon & Bazul.

Container ship involved in rescue of two shipwrecked sailors

On Jan 11, 2013, the "SCI Chennai" was involved in the rescue of two British sailors whose boat sank on off the Pointe du Raz. At 7:36 p.m. the CROSS Corsen was triggering a beacon signal 75 miles west of the Pointe du Raz. The CROSS Corsen dispatched a Cayman helicopter of the Navy with a medical team of the Army Health Service on board. At 8:20, p.m. the "SCI Chennai" relayed the call to the Panama-flagged tug "Christos 23", which got radio contact to two British sailors on board the sailboat "Kajmana" which were experiencing electrical Problems. At 8:54 p.m. the Belgian LNG tanker "Methania" reported having seen two red flares near the search Zone and headed in this direction. At 9:15 p.m., the helicopter localized the shipwrecked crfew in their liferaft. At 9:20 p.m., the two men were hoisted aboard with mild hypothermia. The "Kajmana" had completely sunk for an unknown reason. At 10.20 p.m., the helicopter landed on the naval aviation base Lanvéoc from where the two men were taken to hospital for medical examination.

Medevac off Flushing

On Aug 22, 2011, at 1:15 p.m. the "SCI Chennai" requested the Dutch Coast Guard for a medeavac from the ship after a crew member on board the ship which was coming from Antwerp had suffered a considerable injury to his hand. The lifeboat "Zeemanshoop" was to meet the ship off Flushing.An hour later the boat went alongside, and the wounded man from India was disembarked via the gangway, followed by his luggage. At Flushing a taxi was ready to bring him to hospital for further examination and treatment. The lifeboat returned to Breskens.
