FAIR BREEZE 9419723

Wed Apr 06 18:53:35 CEST 2011 Timsen

Nordea according to Lloyds List will sell the "Blue Emerald" and "Blue Jade", the first detained since February 2011 in Houston, after Korea Line went bankrupt. The sale is made with reference to the crews which have not received their wages. Nordea detained the tankers because Korea Line, which is being liquidated in Seoul, has a loan of 83 million dollars.

The "Blue Emerald" on Feb 9, 2011, was boarded by the Environment Ministry after it entered the Samaná Whale Sanctuary, calling it a “serious” threat to the protected waters. The ship had sustained mechanical failure in the area of Macao, and although it was easier to tow it to the south coast, opted to head to the reserved area without permission instead, disobeying an order to be towed out with a tugboat. The Environment Ministry fined the ship with 200000 Euro for dropping anchor on the beach Carenero, located within the Marine Mammal Sanctuary. The ship set sail from Houston Texas on Jan 27 and was bound to Saint Croix, ETA Feb 10, 6.30 p.m. An investigation was launched.
