Thu Apr 06 10:32:04 CEST 2023 Timsen

While entering Thessaloniki port on April 3, 2023, at around 4.55 p.m. UTC en route from Alexandria, Egypt, the 'Annaba' struck a charted wreck outside the breakwater in the approach fairway. Ship under suspicion of breaking environmental laws

Fri Apr 01 21:32:53 CEST 2016 Timsen

On Mar 24, 2016, the water police Bremerhaven launched an investigation against the "Annaba" due to violations of environmental laws. During a route control it was found out that certificates regarding the change to low sulfur fuel were missing and the documentation of treatment of oily bilge water was not complete. The 44 year old Ukrainian captain and the chief engineer, aged 62, had to pay a safety fine of 2700 Euro. During the ongoing investigations the suspicion arose that they also had pumped 20 cbm oily bilge water over board off Sweden some days ago. In cooperation with the Swedish authorities and the responsible prosecutor the chief and the 2nd engineer from India, aged 33, had to pay another safety fine of on the whole 40000 Euro. The ship was actually still remaining in the fishing port of Bremerhaven due to ongoing repairs.
