Container ship assisted distressed migrants
The 'Cap San Augustin' located a boat with 52 people of sub-Saharan origin, including six women and a child, who were drifting in a rubber boat on July 16 at 8.45 a.m. after having departed from Morocco on July 15. Salvamento Marítimo was notified and deployed the SAR vessel 'Salvamar Al Nair'. The container ship remained on standby until its arrival at 9:20 a.m. With the migrants on board, the vessel is heading towards Arrecife, where they wree disembarked at around 11:00 a.m. at the La Cebolla pier.
Injector faulure off North Foreland
The 'Cap San Augustin', en route from Tanger Med to Coryton with 25 crew members on board, suffered an injector failure on the main engine which required a replacement in position 51 34 07 N, 001 44 54 E, about 18,6 nautical miles northeast of North Foreland on April 16, 2022, at 03.30 a.m. UTC, with a cargo of about 68.314 tonnes. Repair works by the crew were cpmpleted at 04.05 a.m. The ship reached the London Gateays terminal on April 17 at 2 p.m. It sailed again on April 18 at 11.35 a.m., headed to Bremerhaven with an ETA as of April 19.
Allision in Hamburg
In the morning of Dec 2, 2014, at 06:50 a.m. the Cyprus flagged container m/v "Rita" was in collision with the "Cap San Augustin" in the Waltershof Port in Hamburg. The "Rita" was shifting with pilot'a assistance from the Container Terminal Altenwerder to the Burchard Quay. While turning around in the Waltershof Port, she hit the "Cap San Augustin" which was berthed at the quay. The starboard side wheelhouse of the "Rita" was dented, the "Cap San Augustin" suffered scratches. The sailing ban pronounced by the Water Police has meanwhile been lifted while the investigations were going on. At 1 p.m. the "Rita" left the port bound for Tananger, followed by the "Cap San Augustin" at 2 p.m. which headed for Antwerp.
