New Accommodation vessel due to arrive at Lerwick port

Another cruise ship to house temporary workers is due in Lerwick imminently. The Ocean Atlantic, currently in Portland, Dorset, has been expected for a week already, according to Lerwick Port Authority chief executive Sandra Laurenson. The ship will be berthed at Victoria Pier to provide accommodation for Total for workers on Shetland Gas Plant, and comprises a restaurant, bar lounge, shop and gym. Temporary licensing applications for the ship starting from Monday and extending until 14th June were approved by the council’s licensing board Today.

Cruise ship broke lose from its moorings

On Oct 28, 2013, the "Ocean Atlantic" broke lose from its morings in the Overseas Port of Bremerhaven in wind gusts caused by the storm Christian. The tug "Bremerhaven" pushed the ship back to the quay. No damage reports.
