Search for missing passenger called off
A passenger on the "Princess Seaways" from Amsterdam to North Shields has been reported missing and a search and rescue has been launched off the North East coaston March 8, 2018. The alarm was raised 2,5 hours after the ferry docked, when luggage was found in a cabin. The Coastguard confirmed was searching for the passenger with a helicoptor and lifeboat crews from six RNLI stations. The passenger, a foreign national aged in his 60s, was travelling on board the ferry but did not depart the vessel upon arrival in North Shields and cannot be found on board. Enquiries were ongoing to trace the man, contact his next of kin and establish the circumstances around his disappearance. Specialist officers from the Marine Unit were being supported by staff from the Coastguard to carry out searches in the North Sea throughout the afternoon before being called off with out result.
