Repairs in Illichivsk completed
Repairs aboard the 'Haksa' have been completed in Illichivsk. Subsequently, the vessel was shifted from the repair pier to the port's anchorage, and sea trials were carried out under supervision of a class surveyor together with the owner's superintendent. In addition, a new set of trading certificates was issued by the attending classification society and the flag state authority. The vessel was granted departure permission and left the port on Dec 11 at 3.20 p.m., headed to Kherson, where it arrived on Dec 14 at 1.15 p.m.
Repairs in Illichvsk underway
Upon completion of cargo operation and formalities a class surveyoer boarded the 'Haksa', which had allided with a berth at the port of Illichivsk on Oct 22 and suffered heavy damage to the bow section, for a a detailed damage survey and marking of damaged, deformed locations. A shore based team has commenced repairs, and the vessel remained stationary at Chornomorsk as of Nov 26.
Cargo ship heavily damaged
In the allision with the quay in Illichivsk, the 'Haksa' suffered serious structural damages at the forecastle deck, the fore bulbous bow upper section as well as the portside and starboard side foreship section including the forecastle store, hawse pipe connections and bosun equipment stores. Damages were also noted on the concrete block of the pier. The Harbour Master placed an incident investigation file, and a surveyor panel was appointed in order to investigate the cause of the incident and to assess the extent of damage. Upon completion of the surveys and technical inspections, a LoU (Letter of Undertaken) will be issue by the vessel's owners. The crew commenced temporary repairs, and the vessel remains stationary at the inner port as of Oct 25.
