Ferry auctioned off within seven minutes

The 'Acadie' which did not find a buyer last December was sold on June 8, 2020, during a first auction within 7 minutes in Rennes. The ferry, priced at € 20,000, was acquired for € 140,000. The ship was decommissioned in 2016. The first auction, alongside the quay in Lorient, last December, had little appeal to buyers. The starting bid was then € 80,000. The vessel has been maintained and can sail. However, it has lost its certificates and is no longer up to standard for passenger transportation.

Ageing ferry did not find a buyer

The 'Acadie' did not find a buyer during the auction of the Rennes company Alcopa Auction on Dec 4 in the Keroman port in Lorient. Six buyers had positioned themselves but none concluded the deal. Some want to give themselves time for reflection. Among the projects, the ferry could go to export, for Seychelles or Africa or be transformed into a nightclub or restaurant. Offered at € 80,000, the 600-seater remains property of the Brittany Region. The Regional Council had no longer considered the ship as useful and had decided to sell it as is. It no longer has a navigation certificate and is no longer up to current standards, especially for the reception of people with reduced mobility, but was ready to sail. Several employees of the former Morbihan Company and navigation company Océane attended the sale.

Ferry to be auctioned

On Dec 4, 2019, at noon, the 'Acadie', the former ro-ro ferry for Belle-Ile and Groix, will be auctioned at the Keroman fishing port in Lorient with a starting price if 80 000 €. The ship has been laid up in Lorient since March 2018. Its owner, the Brittany Region, entrusted the sale to the auctioneer Xavier Gauducheau, from the Rennes company Alcopa Auction.
