Problem with the main engine water cooling
The 'Onego Deusto', while en route from Szczecin to Halifax with a cargo of steel rail on board, suffered a problem with the main engine water cooling, while transiting the southwest bound lane in the Dover Strait, 10.3 miles off Beachy Head, in position 50 37 03 N, 000 25 59 E, on Nov 17, 2020, at 08.55 a.m. There was water leaking around the rubber on the compensator and this was being exchanged. The vessel was drifting in the shipping lane while the repairs were carried out, and subsequently ot reported an emergency stop. The estimated approximate time for completion of repairs was about 30 minutes. At 09.33 ha.m. the repairs were completed and the vessel was under way towards its destination.
Engine trouble fixed in Colombo, cargo transshipped to Shanghai
The "BBC Skysails" which had encountered engine trouble and was towed to Colombo, being berthed at the East Containers Terminal on March 9, 2018, arrived at Mombasa on Apr 15 before sailing on to Beira on Apr 19, ETA Apr 24. The cargo on board had been loaded onto the "BBC Olympus" from March 17 to 19. On March 27 the ship left port again after completing the necessary repairs. The cargo aboard the "BBC Olympus“ arrived in Shanghai on Apr 19. It was unloaded at the Long Wu Bulk Terminal.
BBC Chartering Sets Sail with SkySail
Leading German multipurpose & heavy lift operator BBC Chartering announces to cooperate with the Hamburg based company SkySails. The background is the recently acquired multipurpose vessel ‘BBC SkySails’ that can offer charter clients the possibility for ‘greener’ sea transports. The 9,821 dwt vessel is fitted with the latest prototype of the SkySails auxiliary wind propulsion system.
