Offshore tug sank off Bintulu
The 'Bos Azlina' capsized nine nautical miles Northwest of Kuala Kemena off Bintulu on Feb 14, 2024. The eight crew members of the vessel, all Indonesians aged between 31 and 48, were rescued after the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bintulu received a distress signal from the vessel at 11.56 a.m. and deployed the 'Bot Kilat 44' to the position. With the help of a water taxi and monitored by Maritime Malaysia, all crew members were accounted for and safe at 12.30 p.m. The Bintulu Maritime Zone Operations Centre (PUSOP) later alerted the Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC). The ship sank within an hour after the initial distress call. The cause of the incident was under investigation. The vessel agent has been contacted in order to take action to help the castaways.
