The "Celebrity Constellation" broke off her moorings at La Spezia on Oct 29, 2018, at 3.30 p.m. in stormy weather with strong winds. The ship started to drift and allided with the starborad side bow of the cruise ship "Costa Magica" (IMO: 9239795), which was berthed nearby, before tugs managed to get her under control and tow the vessel back to the quay. Both ships suffered slight damages. Voyage delayed due to engine trouble
The "Celebrity Constellation" suffered from propulsion issues just after completing a major multi-million refurbishment The cruise ship which has just completed a dry dock refurbishment which added new features and enhancements was suffering from a technical issue which was related to the propulsion system. Celebrity Cruises has been forced to delay the ship’s first sailing back after dry docking. The "Celebrity Constellation" was scheduled to depart Barcelona on May 26 for a 10-day Meditteranean cruise but will now depart two days later on May 28. This meant guests booked on the sailing will miss the much anticipated Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monte Carlo, Monaco on May 28. Even though the ships first cruise back has been delayed guests were to be compensated and the next scheduled voyage departing Venice on June 4 was to go ahead as normal.
Celebrity Constellation to Receive New Dining Venues During Upcoming Dry Dock
When Celebrity Constellation emerges from dry dock on May 26, it will feature two new restaurants, including one that is new to the line, as well as the popular Rooftop Terrace and refurbished suites. "We are continually pushing the boundaries of the cruise experience, so we are adding some incredible new features to Celebrity Constellation," said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. New to the line will be the Top Deck Burger Bar, located on the pool deck in the space formerly known as the Mast Grill. Here cruisers will be able to order gourmet burgers like the Celebrity Signature Burger.
