Troubled container ship got tug assistance
THe 'Manet' suffered engine trouble and went adrift, then dragged its anchor off in position 34 32 19.8 N, 138 53 52.8 E on March 16, 2022, at around 3 p.m. about 6,9 nautical miles from Port of Shimoda. The ship, en route from Yokohama, got assistance by the offshore tug 'Akatsuki' (IMO: 9728966 ) on March 18.
CMA CGM MANET will inaugurate the upgraded 'PANAMA DIRECT' of CMA CGM
The French Line CMA CGM and its compatriot Marfret are to double the sailing frequency of their joint ‘Panama Direct’ service (#115), which connects North Europe to New Zealand via the Panama Canal, with stopovers on the USEC, in the Caribbean and in the Pacific Islands. As of September, inaugurated with the departure from Tilbury on 18 September of the 2,226 teu CMA CGM MANET, the service will offer weekly sailings as opposed to the current fortnightly departures. The ‘Panama Direct’ currently employs a fleet of six vessels in the 2,226 to 3,104 teu size range on a 84-day rotation.
