Allision in Stavanger

Fri Jan 19 19:14:19 CET 2018 Timsen

On Jan 19, 2018, at 1.25 p.m. the "Hardanger" slammed into the fisher quay at Stavanger. Due to the powerful impact people fell on the deck, but no one was injured. After 10-15 minutes the trap doors of the ferry were opened and the cars could drive onto the quay. The gate could not open completely. About half an hour after the allision the ferry resumed the service to Tau. Norwegian report with photo: https://www.aftenbladet.no/lokalt/i/VR1pmd/Tau-ferja-braste-inn-i-kaien

Hardanger repaired and ready for service again

Thu Jul 10 10:34:17 CEST 2014 Timsen

The "Hardanger" was put back into operation on June 10 after the blackout that caused the allision with a ferry quay last week. On June 9 the "Hardanger" was sent to trials and was checked by the Norwegian Veritas and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate. After three adjustments to the gas engines, improvements to the operating system and the introduction of changes in docking procedures were carried out, the ferry was allowed to enter service again and was to undergo some final tests in the night of July 10.

Allision in Tau

Wed Jul 02 10:52:20 CEST 2014 Timsen

On July 1, 2014, the "Hardanger" was unable to stop when entering the port crashed into the ferry quay at Tau while coming from Stavanger. The ferry lost engine power, the electricity on board went out. Most people remarked what was happening and sat down on the stairs before the allision. There were 105 passengers and a crew of 11 on board the ferry. The number of cars was somewhere between 20 and 30. After the allision, which broke out concrete from the quay, the damaged ferry managed to get back to the embarkation point, and all passengers and cars have come ashore. The trucks had to reverse and leave the deck backwards. There were no reports of injuries. The police and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate launched an investigation, and the ferry service was closed until further notice. Motorists were advised to take the connection between Lauvvik and Oanes. On July 2 the ferry docked at the Rosenberg Yard where divers contracted by Norled started a technical research to find the error and check for damage at the bottom of the ferry. Norled also went through the system on board which should have the necessary barriers to prevent such errors.
