Minor fire on aircraft carrier

Mon Mar 11 20:36:15 CET 2024 Timsen

A small fire broke out on the HMS 'Queen Elizabeth' on the River Clyde on March 9, 2024. The aircraft carrier was no on its way to Rosyth for necessary repairs on its starboard propeller shaft coupling. There were no reports of injuries. The minor, isolated fire was quickly brought under control by the crew and extinguished.

Repairs to coupling to be carried out in Rosyth

Fri Feb 16 12:38:42 CET 2024 Timsen

The HMS 'Queen Elizabeth', which was due to sail from Portsmouth to the North Sea on NATO's Steadfast Defennder mission and suffered a mechanical fault to her propeller shaft coupling, which was found during pre-sailing checks on Feb 4, will be required to sail to Rosyth to undergo repairs for the issue with her starboard propeller shaft coupling, which will be carried out in due course. HMS 'Prince of Wales' took her place on Exercise Steadfast Defender leading the UK Carrier Strike Group. The Royal Navy launched an investigation and said the fault was caused by wear and tear. No specific dates have been given for when the warship will leave Portsmouth.
