On Nov 24, 2017, at 2.30 a.m. the Indian Navy ship INS "Trikand" has helped the "Kamlesh" with 27 Indian crew members on board after it was chased by three skiffs 70 nautical miles off Muscat. The INS "Trikand", deployed as part of the mission-based deployment in the Gulf of Oman, also rendered assistance to an Iranian trawler. First mini-cape vessel berths at Indian port

Sun Feb 19 18:33:26 CET 2012 arnekiel

Gujarat saw berthing of the first mini cape vessel in India "MV Kamlesh" by Essar Shipping (ESL) at Hazira on Saturday. MV Kamlesh is the first vessel in a series of six that ESL will acquire in the next five months. The vessel carried 100,000 tonnes of coal for Essar Steel on its maiden voyage to Hazira from Australia. ESL has created this new segment of 1, 05,000 DWT (dead weight tonnage) to strengthen its bulk carrier fleet. The vessel can comfortably carry flexible quantities of coal/iron ore parcels to meet the growing cargo requirements of power, steel and other core sector industries in India. Managing director, ESL, A R Ramakrishnan said, "We are proud to berth India's first mini cape vessel. Such vessels are ideally suited to Indian ports because of their unique design." The double-bottom mini cape vessel is built conforming to the standards of American Bureau of Shipping and incorporates futuristic design and latest technology.
