Engine failure in Ionian Sea
The 'Kazim Dede' suffered a main engine failure in position 37 42 07.8 N, 24 10 28.2 E, about 5.5 nautical miles off Laurium on Jan 10, 2022, at 1 p.m. The crew carried out repairs, and and the vessel continued its voyage from Istanbul to Piombino with an ETA as of Jan 14.
Captain and crew member medevaced
On Dec 25 the Port Authority of Heraklion was informed that the 'Kazim Dede' was about to enter the ports to disembark the captain, aged 46, and a 29-year-old crew member who needed immediate hospital care. The 'Eleni' took the men aboard in the morning and transferred them to shore. An ambulance first transported them to the Health Center and then at the University General Hospital of Heraklion for further examinations. The 'Kazim Dede' was detained.
Repairs completed
The "Kazim Dede" left the Kartal anchorage after repairs and reached Istanbul anchorage on July 4, from where it sailed on July 9 bound for Novorossiysk, where she berthed at the JSC Novorossiysk Commercial Seaport on July 11.
