Tanker towed to Cardiff
On Feb 21 at 2.55 p.m. the 'Seagas Major' was towed into the port of Cardiff from Pembrokeshire waters. The ship with 14 crew on board had left the Milford Haven waterway in the evening of Feb 17, where she had been berthed at Valero. She had suffered engine trouble in the morning of Feb 18 arbout 11 miles southwest of St. Ann's Head. Two tugs were sent to assist but were not able to tow the vessel back to port. The tanker has since been under anchor to the south of St, Govan's Head awaiting the arrival of a tug which has towing ability from the stern. On Feb 20 at midday the 'Seagas Major' was taken under tow by the French tug 'Bever' after an unsuccessful attempt on Feb 19, when the 'Welshman's tow parted and could not be reconnected. The operation was under the supervision of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
Disabled tanker anchored after breaking lose from tug
The 'Seagas Major' suffered a main engine turbo charger failure 10 nautical miles Southwest of St. Anns Head of Feb 18, 2021 at 2.25 a.m. The tug 'Welshman' was called from Newport and tasked to tow the vessel towards Cardiff. After the towing wire broke, the tanker was anchored in pos. 51 29 31 N, 004 52 53 W on Feb 19 at 8.20 a.m. about 6.8 nautical miles southeast off St. Govan's Head, with the tug standing by. Milford Haven Coastguard was liaising with DCPSO duty controllers and commander/port authority/vessel agents. The ship was carrying 2380 metric tonnes of LPG mix as cargo. Also the tugs 'Caldey' and 'Ramsey' have been engaged by the agent to stand by the ship which was en route from Milfred Haven to Falmouth when the failure occurred in pos. 51 34 39 N, 005 23 11 W.
Engine trouble enroute to Teesport
On Jan 24, 2018, at 12.43 a.m. the "Odergas", en route from Rafnes to Tees, suffered an engine turbo defect, resulting in a loss of engine power, in position 56 35 44N, 01 51 32E. The vessel was being monitored by the Humber Coastguard. On Jan 27 at 2 a.m. it was moored on Teesport anchorage. On Jan 31 she sailed again after repairs, bound to Skagen, ETA Feb 1, 5 p.m.
