Casino ship to be towed to Jaigad
The underwater survey and repairs of the "Lucky Seven" were completed on Oct 10, and the owners were now preparing to tow the vessel to the Chowgule Group's Lavgan Dockyard at Jaigad, Maharashtra. AMS will continue to remain with the ship at Jaigad and the repairs of the engines will be done by them. The "Lucky Seven" will be towed at a slow speed of two nautical miles per hour by offshore tug "Maria" which has a 60 tonne bollard pull. The tug "NP Enakxi", a 20 tonne bollard pull, will escort the "Lucky Seven" and remain on standby throughout the operation. The salvors have surveyed the vessel and successfully patched the damaged part. Though final approval from the Indian Register of Shipping is awaited, the owner of the vessel, Golden Globe Hotels, plans to tow the ship to Jaigad on Oct 13. The ship is likely to spend nearly two months in repairs before returning as a full-fledged casino and entertainment vessel.
Ship finally towed into Mandovi river
The "Lucky Seven"was finally towed into the river Mandovi along the Verem shore on Oct 5. The vessel will now appear under the name of "Big Daddy" to join as the sixth ‘galaxy’ of the offshore casinos in Mandovi waters, probably after two months. The salvage operation had resumed at around 8.45 a.m. Three tugs, two of which belonged to the Mormugao Port Trust, within 1,5 hours towed the ship into the Mandovi and anchored it off the Verem shore where it will now undergo an underwater survey and patchworks. There was going to be substantial repair works on the vessel to enable it to go on a voyage from Goa to Jaigad in Ratnagiri where the vessel is expected to go into dry dock. The vessel had suffered a 12-metre deep crack at its bottom in mid-August, and two propellers had also broken down. A team of expert salvagers and divers have already started the underwater survey which was likely to be completed within the next four days.
Lucky Seven has to wait for higher tides
The "Lucky Seven" may rest on a sand bar until at least Oct 4 as there was no high tide before that date. The salvage operation will commence only during high tide. During the last six days salvors in vain had trieb to remove the ship from the sand bank 300 meters away from Miramar beach. The ship is once again filled with sand and water as the hole in the bottom of the vessel has not completely been repaired because it was resting on the ground. The High Court will further hear the matter on September 27 where the company M/s AMS Marine LLC and the State had to submit the report over the development.
