Tanker remains seized upon a lawsuit

Mon Nov 13 13:00:48 CET 2017 Timsen

The "Crystal East", carrying seven crew members, was arrested upon a lawsuit of Gazprombank along with the "Carolina Wind". The two vessels were arrested among other property of the bankrupt company and have remained in the UAE since July 2017. The situation with the "Crystal East" was complicated as personal documents of sailors and vessel papers were held by the port authorities, thus hampering the Russians’ return home. The Far Eastern transport prosecutors have launched an investigation into the violation of rights of sailors who were onboard the vessels seized in the UAE port. More: http://tass.com/society/975288

Crew of detained tanker appealed for help to get home

Fri Oct 13 21:38:36 CEST 2017 Timsen

Seven crew members of the "Crystal East" which was being stranded off Dubai, appealed for help to the Russian Sailors’ Union with a request to help them return the documents and repatriate them home. The ship was arrested in the port of Sharjah because of the shipowner’s large debts, and along with-it seafarer’s documents were taken away. The owner company Nakhodka-Portbunker went bankrupt and owed Gazprombank about $ 14 million, so the port authorities arrested the tanker by a court decision. 13 crew members of the "Crystal Nord", also belonging to the company Nakhodka-Portbunker and being stranded in the port of Hamriya (UAE), applied for help from the Dvor RPSM. The crew of the ship owed about 1.6 million rubles of wages. Part of this crew has already returned to Primorye. Since Nakhodka-Portbunker was beubg in the process of bankruptcy, the arbitration manager promised to pay off the salary debt to the sailors immediately after the sale of the property.
