Grand Manan V reactivated after turbo charger system overheated on Grand Manan Adventure
The Grand Manan ferry service resumed on Mar 4, 2014, with the "Grand Manan V", which was normally docked during the winter months, having been reactivated while the "Grand Manan Adventure" was awaiting repairs remaining docked at Blacks Harbour after the turbo charger system overheated on Mar 3, causing it to malfunction. It was unclear how long the repairs would take. Crews are still tried to source the specialized replacement parts needed, which were supposed to last the life of the engine. The ferry was about 20 minutes out of the island's North Head area when the crew noticed a failure and had to switch to a backup power system. The "Grand Manan V" sailed from Blacks Harbour to Grand Manan Island at 5:30 p.m., returned to Blacks Harbour and then anchored in Grand Manan overnight.

Old ferry for new one
The "Grand Manan V" has to replace the "Adventure" again, as the new ferry had to be taken out of service due to electronic issues. The vessel made one trip from Grand Manan to Blacks Harbour on Aug 15, 2011, morning, but then the captain noticed the problems. The two bow thrusters failed one after the other as the ship docked. The ship will remain docked while the matter is investigated. The delivery of the 82-car ferry already had been delayed when it encountered mechanical problems during sea trials in Panama City, Florida, in June. The ferry overheated because of the failure of a pipe. It arrived in Blacks Harbour from the Eastern Shipbuilding Inc. yard in Panama City on July 26. Then the ferry underwent additional trials and provisioning and Coast Transport staff received extra training before the official launch. Now, the "Grand Manan V" will have to pick up the slack for the "Adventure" during the peak of tourist season.
