Fire on port ferry
On Aug 30, 2016, a fire broke out in the engine room the "Oortkaten" which was berthed at the HADAG-pier at the fish market in Hamburg. The fire rescue was alerted by an employee of the company who had remarked the smell of spilt diesel before. The fire brigade attended with 20 men who extinguished the burning isolation material. Also a fire boat was on scene. The ferry remained sidelined for the time of investigation.
Master fined because ferry was overcrowded
The Water Police has launched administrative proceedings against the captain of the "Oortkaten" after they counted 295 passengers on board the ferry on Aug 2, 2012, which was 45 more than allowed. The master is now facing a fine. Pssengers and politics have critizised the owner HADAG since months for a lack pf capacity on the line 62 between Finkenwerder and the Landing Pier in Hamburg.
Fire on "Oortkaten"
On May 28, 2011, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Hadag-ferry "Oortkaten". The ship was berthed at pier 2 of the "Landungsbrücken" in Hamburg when smoke emerged from the engine room and the ship's electronic failed. The fire brigade extinguished the fire which was found to have been caused by a faulty wiring. There were no passengers on board at the time of the fire.
