Second quarantine ship in Augusta
The 'SNAV Adriatico' arrived just south of Syracuse in the morning of Sep 10, 2020, and was due to dock in Augusta around 5 p.m., being the second quarantine ship chartered by the Italian government to carry out the quarantine of migrants arriving on the island and thus free the hotspot of Lampedusa, which has now collapsed for weeks. In fact, the approximately 300 migrants who boarded the ferry a few days ago come from there and will remain on board until the end of the quarantine.
MAyor opposes quarantine ship
The 'SNAV Adriatica', on which migrants who were in Lampedusa were hosted, was headed to the Port of Pozzallo. The mayor, Roberto Ammatuna, opposed this decision, for which he claims not to have been involved, for reasons of security and logistics at the port.
