The European Union leads the effort against Russian operational LNG Vessels, designating 10 ships under sanctions compared to 6 by the US and 5 by the UK. Arctic LNG-2 has been heavily targeted, with all sanctioning authorities focused on disrupting this strategic project.

In 2024 and 2025, coordinated actions saw simultaneous US, UK and EU vessel designations, highlighting unified Western resolve.  Most of these vessels operate within a shadow fleet, using complex ownership structures and flags of convenience to evade enforcement.
