Swedish Terminal to Double in Size

Fri Sep 28 10:39:18 CEST 2018 arnekiel

The Port of Gävle, a Swedish port operated by Yilport, has agreed a contract with CYES Maritime Works to double in size the largest container terminal on Sweden’s east coast. Gävle handled a record number of containers in 2017, and has experienced a positive development of containerized transports over the last 10 years. The expanded terminal, which will have a boosted capacity of 600,000 TEU, is expected to be operational by the end of 2019, allowing the Port of Gävle to meet increased levels of demand.

Gävle to double capacity for growth

Fri Dec 29 10:43:48 CET 2017 arnekiel

The largest container port on the Swedish East Coast is doubling its capacity to 600,000 teu in order to achieve continued growth. Port of Gävle and Yilport Gävle have entered into a joint venture worth SEK 700 million, a second dock is being built with cranes and depth to accommodate more and larger container vessels. The expanded container port will be able to handle four ships simultaneously. “Within a 250-kilometre radius of Gävle 17 million tonnes of steel, paper, and timber are produced every year. A lot of it is already being exported by sea, containerised through us and that volume will definitely grow,” said Eryn Dinyovszky, general manager of Yilport Nordic. http://www.portstrategy.com/news101/world/europe/gavle-to-double-capacity-for-growth
