Medevac off Galveston

The US Coast Guard medevaced a woman from the Ädventure of the Seas' about 25 miles off Galveston, Texas on Jan 9, 2023. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 5 p.m. from the cruise ship, stating a 51-year-old passenger was experiencing lower abdominal pain and reportedly suffering from possible appendicitis. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew diverted to conduct the medevac. The helicopter crew landed on the ship, took the ailing passenger aboard and transported her to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The patient was reportedly in stable condition.

The US Coast Guard medevaced a passenger from the 'Adventure of the Sea' on April 25, 2022, approximately 160 miles southeast of Galveston, Texas. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a medevac request on April 24 at 8:05 p.m. from the cruise ship, stating a 68-year-old man aboard was experiencing severe back pain, low blood pressure and decreased heart rate. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter was launched to conduct the medevac, while a Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft crew launched to provide an overflight and relay communications. The Dolphin helicopter rendezvoused with the ship, landed on the helicopter pad, took aboard the passenger and transferred him to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in stable condition. Six passengers tested positive for Covid-19

Aboard the 'Adventure of the Seas', six passengers tested positive on Thursday, six days into the week-long, round-trip cruise from Nassau during routine testing to comply with the U.S. government’s rule requiring negative results to enter the country. The ship was carrying around 1,000 passengers and 900 crew members on board. The positive passengers were flown back to the U.S. on July 30, 2021, from Freeport. Four of the positive passengers are vaccinated and were traveling separately. Two of the positive passengers were unvaccinated and traveling together.
