Salvage of capsized super yacht 007 has commenced

Tue Oct 04 12:18:09 CEST 2022 Timsen

The 'Aegis I' was tasked to assist in the salvage of the 49-metre superyacht '007' which sank on Sep 3, 2022. The offshore ship anchored to the stern of the wreck as of Oct 3, and the salvage team began to remove floating items, such as furniture and debris, from within the oil barrier which was laid out around the yacht which had capsized in the morning of Sep 3 off island of Kythnos The superyacht had run aground in the evening of Sep 2, causing an inflow of water that gradually tilted the vessel to port side. The Coast Guard answered mayday calls and deployed the 'Delta II' to the scene. It discovered the vessel in a semi-submerged state. approximately 15 meters from the western side of the sandy beach of Kolona bay. The pfive people on board were transferred to the auxiliary boat and taken to the port of "Mericha" Kythnos.
