Master arrested for carrying more passengers as allowed

The Master of the 'Agios Athanasios', which was berthed at the new port of Thassos, was arrested on Feb 12, 2023, at noon because after a passenger count, when the ship had left the port of Keramotis, it was found that it was carrying an excess number of passengers. A total of 238 passengers were counted instead of the maximum allowed number of 175, based on the ship's current security protocol. The Port Authority of Thassos, which conducted the preliminary investigation, imposed the administrative sanctions.

Ferry suffered propulsion trouble

the Central Port Authority of Kavala was informed on Aug 27, 2021, at noon by the captain of the'Agios Athanasios' about a damage of the starboard side main engine, while the ship was en route from Thassos to the port of Keramotis. The ship berthed unassisted and was banned from sailing by the Port Authority until the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the classification society that monitors it.

Car ramp trouble off Thasos

On July 20, 2020, at 2.45 p.m. the 'Agios Athanasios' suffered a malfunction of its car ramp in position 40 46 08 N, 019 42 01 E, off Thasos. Subsequently, the vessel entered the port of Thasos where it has been detained until completion of repairs and certification by classification society.
