Medevac off Punta Europa
On May 4, 2022, the 'Aidastella', which was sailing 30 miles east of Punta Europa en route from Lisbon to Cartagena, requested the medical evacuation of a 74-year-old German passenger. The CCS Tarifa of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 222, which hoisted the patient and transported him to Jerez for its transfer to the hospital for further care on a higher level.
Cruise ship assisted migrant boat
The 'Aida Stella' came upon a migrant boat in the night of Sep 27, 2021, off the Spanish coast, short after leaving the port of Cagliari at 8.30 p.m. The cruise ship stopped and supplied the 7-10 migrants with drinking water. The Spanish Coastguard was notified, which arrived with a patrol boat on Sep 28 at 6.50 a.m. and recovered the castaways. Then the 'Aidastella' resumed its voyage to Ibiza with an ETA as of Sep 29.
Medevac off Gran Canaria
Salvamento Marítimo medevaced a seriously injured sailor from the 'AIDAstella' in the night of Dec 26, 2020, in waters near Gran Canaria, and transferred him by helicopter to the Doctor Negrín University Hospital, where he was admitted. Around 9:00 p.m. the captain of the 'AIDAstella' alerted the Las Palmas Maritime Center that one of his crew members had broken his leg and needed health care. Immediately, a rescue mission was started and the Helimer 222 helicopter headed to the ship and hoisted the wounded. He was taken to the helisurface of Doctor Negrín (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), where an ambulance of the Canary Islands Emergency Service was waiting for him.Upload News
